Access Bank Lagos City Marathon 2025: Celebrating a Decade of Excellence

The Access Bank Lagos City Marathon is set to celebrate its 10th edition on February 15, 2025, marking a decade of promoting health, unity, and athletic excellence in Nigeria.

This year’s event, aptly themed “Love in the Air,” coincides with the Valentine’s Day weekend, adding an extra layer of excitement and festivity to the occasion.

Global Representation

The marathon has garnered significant international attention, with approximately 4,000 foreign athletes expected to participate. The first batch of these international participants is scheduled to arrive in Lagos on February 13, 2025. Countries represented include Kenya, Ethiopia, Morocco, Eritrea, France, Uganda, Italy, and Ghana, highlighting the event’s global appeal. Notably, over 100 elite athletes will be among the participants, underscoring the marathon’s esteemed reputation in the international running community.

Event Details and Logistics

The marathon offers two race categories: the full 42km marathon and a 10km fun run. The 42km race will commence at the National Stadium in Surulere at 6:30 AM, while the 10km race will start at Grace Garden Events Place, Lekki Phase 1, at 9:30 AM. Both races will conclude at Eko Atlantic City, Victoria Island.

Participants are advised to collect their race bibs at the Teslim Balogun Stadium between February 3 and February 13, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily.

Registration and Participation

While registration for the 2025 marathon has concluded, the event remains a significant opportunity for participants to engage in a world-class athletic experience. All participants will receive a race vest, and finishers will be awarded medals and certificates, commemorating their achievement in this landmark 10th edition.

Reflecting on the marathon’s journey, Chief Executive Officer of Nilayo Sports Management, Mrs. Yetunde Olopade, emphasized the event’s growth and its role in uniting people through sports. Whether one is running, cheering, or soaking in the sporting and festive atmosphere, this 10th edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon will be an unforgettable experience.”
