Rwanda assistant coach Eric Nshimiyimana has boldly declared that Nigeria will not get the points they desperately need when both teams clash in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
With the Super Eagles sitting in a precarious position in Group C, the pressure is on them to turn their poor start around. However, Rwanda’s coach remains confident that his side, currently in a much stronger position, will not allow Nigeria to leave Kigali with anything.

Speaking ahead of the match, Nshimiyimana made it clear that Rwanda is in control of their fate, while Nigeria are the ones scrambling for survival.
“We’re not under any pressure because we already have our seven points. Nigeria are the ones under pressure because they need these points too, but they will not get them,” he said, as quoted by Nigerian journalist Ojora Babatunde.
His confidence stems from Rwanda’s strong campaign so far, where they have secured crucial victories, including a historic 2-1 win over Nigeria in Uyo.

Nigeria’s World Cup qualifying campaign has been nothing short of disastrous. With just three points from four games, the Super Eagles are in fifth place in Group C and are at serious risk of missing the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Their struggles began with frustrating draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, followed by another draw against South Africa. A shocking 2-1 defeat to the Benin Republic only made things worse, leaving Nigeria with no margin for error.

Newly appointed Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle will take charge of the team for the first time, knowing that anything less than a win in Kigali could spell doom for Nigeria’s World Cup ambitions.
Chelle will be hoping to rely on his Bundesliga stars to inspire a turnaround. The likes of Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface, Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman, and Bayern Munich’s Daniel Amartey (if selected) will be key in breaking down Rwanda’s defensive setup.
Additionally, Victor Osimhen, Nigeria’s talismanic striker who has been in excellent form for Napoli, will need to step up and lead the attack.

Rwanda’s confidence is sky-high, especially after their win in Uyo. Playing at home in the Amahoro Stadium, they will be banking on their passionate home crowd to make life even more difficult for Nigeria.
The Super Eagles, on the other hand, must prove they still have the quality and determination to fight their way back into contention. With their Bundesliga stars and European-based talents, Nigeria has the firepower to respond, but they will need to show urgency and tactical discipline to claim all three points.
As the match approaches, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Will Nigeria silence their doubters, or will Rwanda pile more misery on the Super Eagles? All eyes will be on Kigali to find out. 🚀🔥
