Super Eagles forward Chidera Ejuke scored the lone goal for Sevilla in their hard-fought 1-0 victory over Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena. However, Pimienta changed things and handed Ejuke a starting role when they traveled to Sociedad on Sunday.
The first half was quite balanced as both sides failed to break the deadlock. They maintained a cautious approach, holding their defensive lines well. However, Sevilla capitalized on Real Sociedad’s lapse in concentration at the start of the second half. Ejuke was the protagonist, leading a quick attack before curling a beautiful shot past Unai Marrero in Sociedad’s goal to make it 1-0 in the 46th minute.
Real Sociedad struggled to create clear-cut chances to equalize, and in the end, Ejuke’s goal was just enough for Sevilla to secure a crucial win. Aside from his goal, Ejuke had a solid game, making key contributions throughout. Meanwhile, his Super Eagles compatriot, Ademola Lookman, was also in fine form for Atalanta, finding the net in their 2-1 victory over Juventus. Lookman’s goal played a pivotal role in securing an important three points for the Serie A side as they continue their push for a top-four finish.
