Super Eagles forward Chidera Ejuke scored the lone goal for Sevilla in their hard-fought 1-0 victory over Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena. Ejuke has had to play from the bench since returning from his injury layoff in January, with coach Garcia Pimienta favoring Ruben Vargas instead. However, Pimienta changed things and handed Ejuke a starting role when they traveled to Sociedad on Sunday.

The first half was quite balanced as both sides failed to break the deadlock. They maintained a cautious approach, holding their defensive lines well. However, Sevilla capitalized on Real Sociedad’s lapse in concentration at the start of the second half. Ejuke was the protagonist, leading a quick attack before curling a beautiful shot past Unai Marrero in Sociedad’s goal to make it 1-0 in the 46th minute.

Real Sociedad struggled to create clear-cut chances to equalize, and in the end, Ejuke’s goal was just enough for Sevilla to secure a crucial win. Aside from his goal, Ejuke had a solid game, making key contributions throughout. Meanwhile, his Super Eagles compatriot, Ademola Lookman, was also in fine form for Atalanta, finding the net in their 2-1 victory over Juventus. Lookman’s goal played a pivotal role in securing an important three points for the Serie A side as they continue their push for a top-four finish.
